There are 32 teams in Major League Baseball (MLB). Of those, 8 teams are owned by Jews who hold controlling shares—making up 25% of the league.
Then, there are 6 other teams with Jews as minority owners or presidents leading the organization.
Many of these owners are listed on the Jewish Virtual Library. But their list is missing some names or has outdated information. The information isn’t organized well either. But kudos to them for good record-keeping.
These are the MLB teams with Jewish owners
David Rubenstein1 (Baltimore Orioles)
Jerry Reinsdorf2 (Chicago White Sox)
Bruce Sherman3 (Miami Marlins)
Mark Attanasio4 (Milwaukee Brewers)
Steve Cohen5 (New York Mets)
Fisher family6 (Oakland Athletics)
Stuart Sternberg7 (Tampa Bay Rays)
Lerner family8 (Washington Nationals)
Other MLB teams with Jewish minority owners
Tom Werner9 (Boston Red Sox)
David Blitzer10 (Cleveland Guardians)
Stan Kasten and Peter Guber (Los Angeles Dodgers)
Lester Crown11 (New York Yankees)
There are several teams who do not have Jewish majority owners, but Jewish people in charge of the organization as Presidents. This includes New York Yankees12, San Francisco Giants13, Los Angeles Dodgers14, and Toronto Blue Jays15.
Rather interestingly, minority ownership isn’t always fun and roses. Five minority owners of the Tampa Bay Rays sued majority owner Stuart Sternberg, claiming he pushed them out, kept key financial info from them, didn’t share profits fairly, and charged them too much in taxes.
