Hadith related to blessings of Makkah and Madinah
Makkah
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“By Allah, you are the best and most beloved land to Allah. Had I not been driven away from you, I would not have left you.”
Do not undertake a journey to visit any Masjid, except three: this Masjid of mine, the Masjid of al-Haram and the Masjid of Aqsa [Bait al-Maqdis].
Special places in Madinah
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“There is a garden from the gardens of Paradise between my house and my pulpit, and my pulpit is on Al-Kauthar.”
Prayer in my mosque is more excellent than a thousand prayers observed in other mosques except the Masjid al-Haram.
When Ibn Umar arrived on his journey, he entered the Masjid of Madinah and then went to the graves.
Ibn Umar said, “Peace be upon you, O Messenger of Allah. Peace be upon you, O Abu Bakr. Peace be upon you, O my father.”
“Allah's Messenger ﷺ cast a glance at Uhud and said: Uhud is a mountain which loves us and we love it.”
Many blessings of Madinah
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“O Allah! Bestow on Madinah twice the blessings You bestowed on Makkah.”
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“O Allah! Make us love Medina as much or more than we love Mecca. O Allah! Make it healthy and bless its Mudd and Sa for us, and take away its fever and put it in Al Juhfa.”
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“No one is patient with the rigors and hardship of Madinah but that I will be an intercessor for him or a witness on his behalf.”
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“Verily, Belief returns and goes back to Madinah as a snake returns and goes back to its hole (when in danger).”
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“I was ordered to migrate to a town which will conquer other towns and is called Yathrib and that is Madinah, and it turns out (bad) persons as a furnace removes the impurities of iron.”
A Bedouin came to the Prophet ﷺ and gave a pledge of allegiance for embracing Islam. The next day he came with fever and said (to the Prophet ﷺ), “Please cancel my pledge (of embracing Islam and of emigrating to Madinah).”
The Prophet ﷺ refused three times and said,
“Madinah is like a furnace, it expels out the impurities and selects the good ones and makes them perfect.”
Whenever the Prophet ﷺ returned from a journey and observed the walls of Madinah, he would make his Mount go fast, and if he was on an animal, he would make it gallop because of his love for Madinah.
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“Syria will be conquered and some people will go out of Medina along with their families driving their camels. and Medina is better for them if they were to know it. Then Yemen will be conquered and some people will go out of Medina along with their families driving their camels, and Medina is better for them if they were to know it. Then Iraq will be conquered and some people will go out of it along with their families driving their camels, and Medina is better for them if they were to know it.”
Madinah is a sanctuary
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“No one plots against the people of Madinah, except that he will be destroyed like the salt is dissolved in water.”
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“I have made Madinah a sanctuary between its two mountains.”
Abu Huraira said: If I saw deers grazing in Madinah, I would not chase them, for Allah's Messenger ﷺ said,
“(Madinah) is a sanctuary between its two mountains.”
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“Madinah is a sanctuary from that place to that. Its trees should not be cut and no heresy should be innovated nor any sin should be committed in it, and whoever innovates in it an heresy or commits sins, then he will incur the curse of Allah, the angels, and all the people.”
Protection from Dajjal
Allah's Messenger ﷺ said,
“Neither Messiah (Ad-Dajjal) nor plague will enter Medina.”
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“The terror caused by Al-Masih Ad-Dajjal will not enter Madinah and at that time Madinah will have seven gates and there will be two angels at each gate guarding them.”
The Prophet ﷺ said,
“Ad-Dajjal will come and encamp at a place close to Madinah and then Madinah will shake thrice whereupon every Kafir (disbeliever) and hypocrite will go out (of Madinah) towards him.”
